Genius

Interim Technical Support

Genius Foods Ltd produce a variety of gluten free products, including breads, muffins, cakes and pies, out of their two manufacturing sites in the UK. Due to changes in staff, the Scunthorpe site required additional technical support to review current systems in readiness for their BRC and Gluten Free audits.

Faedah Solutions’ Wayne Johnson supported the factory. With his 30 years technical experience (in both retail and manufacturing) and advanced HACCP training, could hit the ground running, as timescales before the audits was limited.

The importance of cooperation between the site teams is crucial in embedding changes at any facility.  Working closely with the site teams at every step, and the group teams in Scotland, new documentation and structure was introduced and trained out. Using industry contacts and knowledge, improved pest control and  hygiene systems were introduced to expand on the current systems.

New product launches were also taking place so micro analysis, shelf-life and artwork sign off was also covered.

Following successful Environmental Health and Gluten Free Audits and approval, a new site quality manager was appointed. A handover period of two weeks was carried out to ensure the new team was up to speed with any changes.

“I first got to know Wayne from a technical consultancy viewpoint after I took on a new role which included the accountability for a site that had been technically neglected. Quite a distance from my own location we quickly built a strong relationship on the foundations of trust and total transparency.

Wayne’s professionalism, can do, down to earth attitude and structured, hands on approach were invaluable. I highly recommend Wayne, his technical knowledge and vast experience meant he hit the ground running and made an instant impact which is exactly what was required at that extremely difficult time.”
